Welcome to Brown Books Cafe, a charming retreat nestled in the heart of Sapporo, Japan. Located at 〒060-0063 Hokkaido, Sapporo, Chuo Ward, Minami 3 Jonishi, 7 Chome−7-26 2F, this delightful cafe is a perfect combination of a tranquil reading nook and a warm coffee shop.

As you ascend the couple of flights of stairs that lead you to this cozy spot, you’ll be greeted by an atmosphere that feels like stepping into a novel—full of old-school vibes and lined with bookshelves that beckon you to linger a little longer. The natural light streaming in creates a welcoming glow, enhancing the eclectic decor that gives the cafe its character. It’s a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

Brown Books Cafe is not just an ordinary coffee shop; it’s also a hidden treasure trove of antique finds. You can sip on a delicious cup of coffee while perusing through quaint collectibles that whisper stories of the past. Customers rave about the cozy ambiance, making it a go-to destination to unwind, especially on those cold, snowy days that are characteristic of Sapporo.

The cafe's menu offers a selection of delightful treats that cater to every palate. Indulge in the rich and velvety chocolate tart topped with candied orange slices, a true feast for the senses that Ryan Moore describes as “delightful.” If you crave something lighter, don’t miss the cheesecake and the unique ginger syrup with milk that another customer, angel, enjoyed. The musically-infused backdrop perfectly complements these delightful flavors.

Winter visitors will be particularly enchanted by the mulled wine that many proclaim to be the best in town. As Rachel Emanuel aptly notes, it’s the perfect drink to enjoy while watching the snowflakes dance down the street below, adding a touch of magic to your experience.

For those seeking something warm, why not try the homemade ginger syrup tea that Camilla could not get enough of? Accompanied by a delicious raisin and spices cookie, it’s a perfect comfort on a chilly day. The sweet notes of ginger blend beautifully with the warmth of tea, making each sip a soothing experience.

Every visit to Brown Books Cafe feels like a warm hug, thanks to the welcoming service provided by the friendly staff who are ready to ensure your experience is nothing short of delightful. Whether you’re there to savor a treat, enjoy a book, or simply bask in the cozy ambiance, this cafe promises a memorable time that invites you back again and again.

Up a couple flights of stairs to a delightful cafe and antique store. I love the old school vibes, bookshelves and natural light! Also the chocolate tart with candied orange slices was delightful.

The best mulled wine in town! Watch the snowy street below from the window and enjoy the eclectic decor.

Cutest little café! Very warm and welcoming. I had the ginger homemade syrup tea, so good for a cold and snowy day. I also got a raisin and spices cookie, which was deliciously yummy. Wish I could have more. The music diffused in the café is very pleasant and the lady working there was kind. I totally recommend.

The almond cafe au lait is to die for - it's genuinely so good. For a non-coffee drinker, there isn't much (there's a homemade lemonade and a ginger syrup infused tea) but the cafe au lait was enjoyable even for those not used to drinking coffee. The atmosphere was peaceful, and it's just at the end of the Tanukikoji shopping street, so it's a good resting point.

Plan to spend time here! I didn't allow for enough time and it was so sad to leave before full immersion into Brown Books' greatness! It's so dreamy and full of treasures, I could've explored it for hours! The Cafe and Thrift shop are connected, though on different floors, make sure not to miss either!
